Control Systems Designer

Electrical and control system design for industrial automation projects.

  • Read the electrical drawings and turned them into code where every input and output on a schematic ended up as a tag in ladder logic and something on the HMI screen.
  • Wrote the PLC programs in Studio 5000 that made a whole system run on its own, and built the screens in FactoryTalk View Studio Machine Edition around what the operator actually needed to see.
  • Kept the drawings and the parts list right as a project changed, and wrote up what the system was supposed to do before any of it got built.

Machine Vision Co-op

  • Engineered and tested 30+ UV and LED lighting configurations to get inspection images clean enough for the vision models to be reliable — which meant faster inspections and more consistent quality control for clients.
  • Soldered and mechanically assembled machine components from engineering drawings, integrating the electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Designed and ran validation tests on the inspection technology to find the edge cases where detection fell over, and improve accuracy across product conditions.
  • Implemented and documented C++ and OpenCV updates to the tool that generates custom sample reports for prospective clients.
